Iviswold - Rutherford, NJ

Iviswold
Iviswold, originally built in 1869 by Lloyd Tomkins, was bought by American Book Company president David B. Ivison in 1887. After Ivison's death it was sold numerous times, until ending up in the hands of Fairleigh-Dickinson, then a junior college. When Fairleigh-Dickinson let go of the Rutherford, New Jersey property due to space issues, the property became part of Felician College. A recent renovation has been completed to restore the castle.

What Makes an Old House Special?

I have always loved old houses - from the one I grew up in to the historic ones I've researched as past of my genealogy habit. I especially like the ones that have an interesting history, either because of who owned the house or what happened inside its walls. Good or bad, most old houses have stories they could tell!
